Guide
How much does Amazon Vine cost per review?
Part 1
Enroll 2, 10 or 30 units, since 3 and 11 cost the most per unit in their tiers
Do this first
- Decide how many reviews the listing needs before launch. Vine caps a product at 30 units.
- Pick 2, 10 or 30 units, the top of each fee tier.
- On the Vine dashboard in Seller Central, under Advertising, enter the units and read the fee on the confirmation screen before you submit.
| Units enrolled | Enrollment fee | Fee per unit |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | $0 | $0.00 |
| 2 | $0 | $0.00 |
| 3 | $75 | $25.00 |
| 10 | $75 | $7.50 |
| 11 | $200 | $18.18 |
| 30 | $200 | $6.67 |
- Amazon prices Vine by units enrolled, in 3 tiers: 1 to 2 units $0, 3 to 10 units $75 and 11 to 30 units $200, for enrollments since October 19, 2023.1 The fee per unit is that fee divided by the units.
- Child variations ride free. The fee is once per parent product, and in Amazon's Example 3 two units across 5 child products cost $0.1
- Each country is a separate fee. Amazon charges per store, and the top tier is CAD 240 in Canada, GBP 140 in the UK, EUR 170 in the EU and JPY 22,000 in Japan.1, 2
Part 2
At $12 a unit, a Vine review costs $12 to $37 if every unit is reviewed, and the fee is the same with 1 review or 30
Do this first
- Write down what one unit cost to make and send to Amazon, plus its FBA fee. The example below uses $12.
- Multiply it by the units and add the fee from Part 1. That's the most the enrollment can cost before the referral fee.
- Divide by the units for the cost per review if every unit is reviewed, the best case.
| Units | Fee | Fee plus units | Per review, every unit reviewed | If only 1 review posts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | $0 | $24 | $12.00 | $24 |
| 3 | $75 | $111 | $37.00 | $111 |
| 10 | $75 | $195 | $19.50 | $195 |
| 11 | $200 | $332 | $30.18 | $332 |
| 30 | $200 | $560 | $18.67 | $560 |
- The fee doesn't depend on units claimed or reviews received, in Amazon's words, so 3 units with 1 review still cost $75.1
- FBA and referral fees apply to Vine orders, per Amazon's fee FAQ.1 Amazon doesn't say what price the referral fee is charged on for a free unit, so the example leaves it out. Check your Payments report after the first Vine order.
- No Amazon page says how many units become reviews. The best case is 1 review per unit, and the worst case that still bills is 1 review in total, so a 30-unit enrollment at $12 a unit costs up to $560 either way. Each $1 your unit costs above $12 adds $1 to each cost per review when every unit is reviewed.
- No review in 90 days means no fee. Billing comes 30 days after enrollment once the first review posts, or at the first review if it's later.1
Part 3
Amazon's own pages disagree 3 times, so trust the fee on the confirmation screen
Do this first
- Read "free" on Amazon's Vine page as 2 units of one parent product.
- Check the fee on the enrollment confirmation screen, which Amazon says shows it before you submit.
- Find the charge in your Payments report after it bills.
| Topic | One Amazon page says | Another says |
|---|---|---|
| What's free | "enroll up to two products for free" (Vine page)2 | 1 to 2 units per parent product cost $0 (rate card)1 |
| 4 units | Example 4: "Seller will be charged $100"1 | 3 to 10 units cost $75 (same article's rate card)1 |
| Who qualifies | A role on a brand in Brand Registry, "or have generic products" (Vine page)2 | A Brand Representative or Reseller role in Brand Registry (help article)3 |
- "Two products" means 2 units. Amazon's Example 2 charges $0 for 2 units on one parent product, and Example 3 charges $0 for 2 units across 5 child products.1
- The $100 example matches no tier. Amazon's Example 1 charges $75 for 3 units and Example 6 charges $75 for 7, so 4 units falls in the same $75 tier.1
- Generic products: the Vine page lets sellers with generic products in without Brand Registry, and the help article lists only Brand Registry roles.2, 3 If Vine doesn't appear under Advertising, the brand role is the first thing to check.
Part 4
Check 4 rules before you click Enroll, since 3 of them can't be undone
Do this first
- Confirm the listing has fewer than 30 reviews, an active FBA offer, an image and a description.
- Send the inventory in at least 3 weeks before launch, as Amazon recommends.
- Enroll the number of units you want to end with, since adding later can move you up a tier.
- Who qualifies: a Professional account at $39.99 a month, an active FBA listing with fewer than 30 reviews, an image and a description. Adult, digital and bundled products are out, and so is a product a reviewer must separately order another product to test.2, 3
- Units go up and never down. You can add units within 30 days of the start date, and adding into a higher tier raises the fee: Amazon's Example 5 goes from 4 units to 14 and pays $200.1
- One claim locks the product out of Vine. You can cancel before any Vine Voice claims a unit and re-enroll later. After a claim you can only stop it, and neither that product nor any variation of its parent can enroll again.1, 2
- A bad review gets no refund, per Amazon, and Vine Voices post their honest opinion.1, 2 Fix what your low reviews name first. A listing past 30 reviews uses Request a Review on every order, and the 5-star reviews table says how many it needs.
