Which channel actually makes you money?

Put in your cost of goods and each channel's price, shipping and ad spend per order, and see what each of 6 channels, Amazon to Faire, keeps after its fees. Revenue often ranks channels differently. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Part 1

Rank channels by what each keeps per order

Do this first

  1. Type your landed cost of goods per order.
  2. Change each channel's price, shipping and ad spend per order to yours.
  3. Untick the channels you don't sell on.
  4. Copy the ranking for Slack or email.
  • In the example, Etsy keeps the most, $16.75 of a $40 order (42%).
  • Faire keeps $1.32 of a $20 wholesale order, since cost of goods stays at $12 while the price halves. Wholesale pays when goods are cheap against the retail price and no ad spend sits on the order.
  • At $30 cost of goods, some channels lose money on every order, and the headline names them.

Part 2

What the calculator leaves out

Left outWhy it matters
Returns, storage, plan fees, promotionsThey move from month to month
Amazon category and sizeThe referral fee varies by category, and FBA fees by size, weight and season, so put in your own1
Etsy on shippingEtsy's 6.5% and 3% also apply to any shipping you charge5
Etsy Offsite AdsAn order they bring in costs another 12% or 15%5
  • Amazon's FBA default switches to the peak fee, $3.97 plus the 3.5% surcharge, from October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027.1
  • Weighing a retailer's order against your own store? DTC vs wholesale margins prices one unit both ways and names the ad cost where wholesale wins.
  • The profit by sales channel guide shows where each channel reports its real fees, and runs the same sum over 13 weeks on one brand.

Want it from your real orders?

This uses one example order per channel. Our monthly report reads your actual exports, fees, refunds and ad spend for every channel you sell through, and ranks where the profit leaks first. You send the standard exports, with no logins or store access. Your first month is free, and it ends on its own.
