Paste your exports. Read your month.
Paste Amazon's Sales and Traffic by Date report and Shopify's orders export, and get one scorecard: last month against the month before, with sales, sessions, conversion and order value per channel. The files are read in your browser and never uploaded.
Example exports, 2 months each, made up for this page. Replace either box with your own file's contents, or .
Customer names and emails in the file stay on your screen. The scorecard reads order numbers, dates, subtotals, discounts and refunds only.
Your scorecard
Part 1
Pull 2 exports and paste them
Do this first
- In Seller Central, open Reports, then Business Reports, then Sales and Traffic by Date, and download a range that covers both whole months as CSV.
- In Shopify, open Orders, then Export, as CSV, for the same months.
- Paste each file into its box above, or pick the file.
- Copy the scorecard for Slack or email.
- Amazon dates the report in Pacific time, so a range cut at midnight elsewhere can split a day between months.
- Amazon keeps Business Reports for 2 years,1 so save each month's CSV if you want a year-on-year line later.
- The Business Reports guide shows where the report lives and the 3 fields that mislead most.
Part 2
What each export gives, and what's left out
| Line | Amazon | Shopify |
|---|---|---|
| Sales | Ordered product sales, summed by calendar month | Subtotal after discounts, minus refunds. Voided and fully refunded orders left out |
| Orders | Units ordered | Orders, counted once each from the Name column |
| Traffic | Sessions | Not in the export. Type sessions from Analytics |
| Conversion | Unit session percentage, units over sessions | Blank until you type sessions |
| Order value | Average selling price, sales over units | Net sales per order |
- Conversion and average selling price come from the monthly totals, using Amazon's definitions of both.2
- Ordered product sales counts an order the day it's placed, and Amazon reports refunds separately.2 With fees and ad spend also left out, the scorecard is sales before costs.
- Month on month misleads in a seasonal category. The free monthly business review reads the same 2 files against last year and says which of traffic, conversion or order value moved each channel.
You just did step one of the free report
These are the same two files we start from. Tell us where you sell through the form, we reply with the exports to pull for every other channel, and we build the whole review: every channel, 13 weeks against last year, each likely cause tested, and the actions ranked with an owner and a date. Your first monthly review is free, and the free month ends on its own.
